SAC Saskatchewan

SAC Saskatchewan

SAC’s advocacy work in Saskatchewan is supported by a Regional Advocacy Manager and guided by a Regional Advisory Group made up of Saskatchewan members. Together, they identify and advance advocacy priorities that affect communication health in the province. Through collaboration with SAC’s national advocacy team, this work helps strengthen the voice of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and communication health assistants and improve access to communication health services across Saskatchewan.

Advocacy Priorities

As the national association representing communication health professionals, Speech-Language & Audiology Canada is committed to highlighting the professions and to raising the profile of communications health in Canada.

Equitable Access

Equitable Access

Increased services to Indigenous communities are crucial for ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare and private services. SAC will engage with relevant decision-makers to advocate for the role of speech-language pathologists and audiologists to support rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.

Scope of Practice Awareness

Scope of Practice Awareness

Inadequate understanding of the speech-language pathologists and audiologists can lead to undervaluation and underutilization of our services, limiting delivery and accessibility. SAC will work to raise awareness of the full scope of practice of our professions among the public, interdisciplinary partners, and provincial government officials, ensuring appropriate support and funding for their critical contributions to the healthcare system.

Master of Speech-Language Pathology Program

On August 27th, the University of Saskatchewan celebrated the expansion of its School of Rehabilitation Science, including the launch of their new Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP) program.
SAC was proud to launch the pilot of our pinning program at this event, giving new students a special pin to mark the start of their journey and to remind them of SAC’s support throughout their careers.
SAC-Saskatchewan’s Jennifer Cameron-Turley was there to take part in this special occasion, and we’re thankful to have been part of the celebration.
Congratulations to U of S on the launch of their new program! We wish all the incoming students the very best and look forward to supporting you throughout your speech-language pathology journey.

The collective voices of passionate and driven members can create meaningful change on a larger scale.

Master of Speech-Language Pathology Program

The Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP) program at the University of Saskatchewan is the newest speech-language pathology program in Canada. This 27-month program is aligned with the Academic Equivalency Framework created by Canadian audiology and speech-language pathology regulators. The program provides students with a comprehensive education, combining academic coursework with clinical experiences. Students will complete six clinical placements in program (over 1,000 total hours) which will include the minimum 350 supervised clinical hours of direct client contact activities required by CSASK. This program is unique in Canada, focusing on the needs of Saskatchewan’s rural, remote, and Indigenous communities, emphasizing cultural humility throughout.
