This workshop aims to foster grassroots advocacy capacity among SAC-Saskatchewan members and empower them to initiate and lead advocacy efforts in their respective settings, drawing on their specialized knowledge of these areas. The collective voices of passionate and driven members can create meaningful change on a larger scale.
This presentation provides an introductory analysis of Saskatchewan’s political landscape, the various government and non-government institutions that affect the professions of speech-language pathology, audiology and communication health assistants, and how to get involved in advocacy efforts to create change.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this workshop, attendees will:
- understand the Saskatchewan political and governmental landscape as it relates to SAC’s provincial advocacy priorities and member professions; and
- leave with tools and knowledge to engage effectively in direct advocacy and connect with decision makers.
Participants will gain:
- best practices for grassroots advocacy and ensuring continued focus on key issues ;
- the knowledge, tools, and confidence to navigate the political landscape in Saskatchewan; and
- an understanding of which levels and facets of government affect their profession.
