Introductory: Assumes little or no familiarity with the literature and professional practice within the areas covered.
Maybe you read a study that changed how you think about a patient population. Maybe you saw a new screening tool on Instagram, or you keep noticing the same gap in care in your clinical practice. And now you want to change something! That instinct is what makes great clinicians. But today’s information landscape is complicated. Social media spreads clinical claims quickly, and AI tools produce confident summaries. On top of that, we’re all prone to biases that shape what we believe and adopt.
This webinar is a practical toolkit for well-meaning change-makers. In the first half, we’ll look at why critical appraisal matters more than ever, how cognitive biases and AI-generated content can mislead us, and how to verify sources, read beyond the abstract, and use established appraisal tools to judge whether evidence is ready for practice. In the second half, we’ll move from “should we?” to “how do we?” Using implementation science frameworks, we’ll identify barriers and facilitators, match them to targeted strategies, and use Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles to test and sustain change.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
