Ministry of Education Issues New Kindergarten Curriculum (2026)
In January 2025, SAC was invited by the Ministry of Education to provide language-focused feedback as part of the provincial review of the existing Kindergarten Program (2016). SAC participated by providing input through a language lens.
The Ministry of Education has since released the new Kindergarten Curriculum (2026), scheduled for implementation in the 2026–27 school year. The revised curriculum replaces the 2016 version and aims to strengthen foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and STEM, while maintaining Ontario’s full-day, play-based kindergarten model.
To support implementation, the Ministry has announced accompanying resources, including classroom-ready materials developed in partnership with TVO, Dyslexia Canada, and the Ontario Science Centre.
SAC continues to participate in provincial consultations to ensure that the perspectives of speech-language pathologists and audiologists are reflected in decisions that shape early learning.

Ontario School Services Working Group

We encourage applications from individuals in the research/academic field, speech-language pathologists and communication health assistants who work in school-based services (e.g., school board, school-based rehabilitation services) across Ontario.
Commitment: Advisory Groups meet at least eight times per year.
