On March 3, 2026, Dalhousie University’s School of Communication Sciences and Disorders hosted its first World Hearing Day event as part of the World Health Organization’s global awareness campaign. Organized by MSc Audiology students Sophia Hibbert and Savanna Richard, under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Valentin, the event promoted hearing health and interprofessional learning across the Faculty of Health. Activities included interdisciplinary presentations, interactive booths on hearing loss prevention and hearing aids, free hearing screenings, and an introductory ASL workshop. The event aimed to increase public and student awareness of hearing health, early detection, and the role of audiologists, with hopes of continuing the initiative annually.
