Maggie Green, from BMS Group, and Jahmiah Ferdinand-Hodkin, from Gowling WLG (Canada), provide an overview of the types of concerns that drive speech-language pathologists and audiologists to request guidance from SAC’s insurance program and preferred legal provider. Maggie identifies the breakdown of claims related to college complaints, discusses common complaints and provides examples. Jahmiah reviews the step-by-step process of responding to a complaint from the perspective of an S-LP and an audiologist from the time that a complaint is received until the college renders its decision, many months later. This workshop provides a number of important take-home messages relevant to S-LPs and audiologists, including best practices for protecting your license.
