Welcome OSLA Members to SAC

After broad consultation with members and SAC, the OSLA Board of Directors have elected to formally dissolve OSLA and merge the association into SAC.

As of April 1, 2022, OSLA ceased to exist.

This union will enabled more effective use of OSLA's resources and staff to focus on provincial advocacy and outreach.

4. “How does certification affect me? Do I need to write an exam?”

SAC Certification is a voluntary program and not a requirement for SAC membership. However most SAC members choose to pursue SAC Certification. As a long-standing professional designation, SAC Certification is recognized and well-respected in Canada and internationally.

If you are presently a certified member of SAC or plan to join the program, you will be required to maintain your membership annually in order to maintain good standing in the SAC Certification Program.

Members looking to join the program are no longer required to write the Clinical Certification Exam as of March 2020.

Current S-LP members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and other international associations, may be eligible to apply for full SAC certification, bypassing the provisional certification period, through SAC’s Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).

For more information about MRA eligibility requirements and the application process,
visit here

Current audiology members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association may be eligible to apply for SAC certification, bypassing the provisional certification period, through SAC’s Recognition Agreement (RA).

For more information about RA eligibility requirements and the application process,

Provisionally certified and certified members who would like to take a step further in the certification process have the opportunity to focus additional professional development in one or more areas of professional interest identified by SAC (e.g., speech, language and literacy development; adult swallowing; tinnitus; implantable hearing devices, etc.).
