Due to public health concerns related to COVID-19 (coronavirus) Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 SAC S-LP Conference scheduled in Ottawa, May 7-9.
Public health and safety are a top priority for SAC. We have been closely monitoring developments with COVID – 19, reviewing updates and recommendations from health organizations including the Public Health Agency of Canada, Ottawa Public Health and the World Health Organization (WHO).
In light of developments over the past few days, including elevated warnings from the WHO and growing travel restrictions worldwide, we feel it is important to be proactive and exercise a level of caution in these very uncertain times.
SAC’s decision to cancel was not made lightly. We know that our conference working groups have put a great deal of work into developing an incredible program, our conference speakers have begun preparing their presentations and our exhibitors have started to finalize their travel plans. We also know that many of our delegates were looking forward to coming to Ottawa and have already made their travel arrangements. We are deeply sorry for the disappointment this cancellation will cause.
We ask for your patience as we work through procedures with respect to registration and determine next steps.
If you reserved a room at The Westin Ottawa, you will receive a cancellation notification within the next 48 hours.
We will reach out to registered delegates with more information in the days ahead.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada.
