Practical Strategies for Building Early Social Communication Skills in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (for Communication Health Assistants) (2019)

This webinar provides practical strategies for engaging with young children with autism spectrum disorders and building social communication skills. We review the importance of early social referencing skills and how they develop as well as identify simple and practical evidence-informed strategies to target these skills.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

• learn about the development of early social referencing skills;
• develop strategies for engaging in playful, shared social play routines; and
• develop strategies to use shared play routines to build early joint attention and language skills.
