Many male-to-female transgender individuals wish to pursue voice and communication feminization training as part of their gender transition to achieve a gender expression that is congruent with their gender identity and that is also perceived as such. Unfortunately, many clinicians lack experience with this population and area of practice, which contributes to limitations in the capacity for services. This mini-seminar will provide a primer on gender identity, transition, and the evidence base for communication feminization training. It will also include a short description of ongoing research investigating communication-based predictors of gender perception and an introduction to assessment and training considerations.
