The importance of providing family-centered services that meet the unique needs of families of children with hearing loss is well established. Applying an implementation science approach, we identified that families need informational, professional, financial, and peer support during their transition from diagnosis to early intervention. However, some families feel overwhelmed by the information and support. We hypothesised that a needs assessment tool may facilitate the provision of individualized services. The FamilyHEAR Needs Assessment Tool was developed and will be evaluated to help professionals tailor the information and support they provide to families of children with hearing loss.
