Recent international efforts to increase consensus and awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) have the potential to positively impact families and services. In part one of this series, we consider criteria and challenges for using the term DLD in a way that allows for practice setting constraints but achieves reasonable consistency across settings. In part two, we consider the talking/thinking tools we need in crucial conversations with parents when we share child assessment results indicating DLD. Between the two sessions, participants took part in small group discussion sessions with the presenter focused on clinical experiences in sharing a diagnosis related to childhood language disorders.
