This workshop aims to provide speech and language pathologists with valuable insights and tools to effectively support bi/multilingual, multicultural children and their families. With the increasing linguistic and cultural diversity in Canadian society, it is crucial for speech and language pathologists to be equipped with best practices to address the unique challenges faced by these children and families. The workshop will cover a range of topics, including understanding the benefits and challenges of bi/multilingualism in child development, recognizing cultural factors that influence communication and language acquisition, and effective assessment and intervention strategies in a multicultural context. Participants will also gain a deeper understanding of the cultural, linguistic, and contextual variables that impact language development and communication disorders.
