Identifying atypical language difficulties in monolingual children is challenging but it is especially difficult in bilingual children. Language samples are recommended as a more appropriate way to evaluate the language skills of bilingual children than standardized tests, as they are more naturalistic and less likely to be biased. To support Canadian clinicians, a national team of researchers have collected language samples with over 650 monolingual and bilingual children aged 7 – 12 across Canada. This webinar explores how language sample data can inform clinical assessment and present preliminary findings from the study.
