Participants will develop a better understanding of ableism and its prevalence in society, particularly within the field of rehabilitation. This presentation will encourage participants to think critically and reflect on their individual beliefs and feelings about disability. We will discuss considerations for using the Social Model or Biopsychosocial Model of disability as a framework for guiding assessment and treatment in clinical practice. Participants will understand ways to be allies of the disability community and will be introduced to resources and materials to support continued learning around ableism and anti-ableist practices.
