Regular Part-Time Position

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the incumbent will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide inpatient and outpatient assessment, consultation and treatment services, and education to patients with speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, oral motor, and swallowing disorders.
Basic Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology;
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the CASLPO;
- Current CPR basic rescuer certificate;
- Previous work experience with adult communication and swallowing disorders;
- Demonstrated skill and experience in health care teaching, supervising rehabilitation assistants and students;
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and maintenance of high professional standards;
- Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Pathophysiology of Communication and swallowing disorders, and the effects of other diseases and conditions on patients;
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based best practices and the differences between treatment efficacy, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, and efficiency to achieve quality outcomes and performance improvement;
- Demonstrated ability to provide services and develop care plans by applying the best available research evidence, expert clinical judgment, and considering patients/clients’ individual preference and values;
- Demonstrated superior critical thinking, academic questioning, and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to practice in a self-directed manner and communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and other health care professionals;
- Demonstrated ability to use an ethical and evidence-based framework to prioritize which patients/clients would benefit most from services given limited resources;
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement;
- Demonstrated knowledge of various computer applications and software related to healthcare programs;
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibility, Excellence, Safety Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and recent experience working with Inpatient and Outpatient adult and geriatric populations;
- Training and recent experience with conducting and interpreting Video-Fluoroscopic evaluations of swallowing function;
- Certified in TOR-BSST©;
- Experience in adult education.
