Volunteer Speaker — Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Conference: Speech, Communication, Feeding & Swallowing (Saturday October 24th, 2026)
About the Role
The PSP Society is seeking a volunteer clinical expert to participate in a fireside chat at the PSP Conference focused on the changes people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) may experience with speech, communication, eating, swallowing and saliva management.
The goal of this session is to provide patients, families and caregivers with practical, evidence-informed guidance they can understand and use at home, while helping them better understand when and where to seek professional support.
We are particularly interested in an expert with experience in speech-language pathology, swallowing/dysphagia, neurodegenerative disease, voice disorders, or related areas.

Ideal Speaker
We are looking for someone who:
- Has professional expertise in speech, swallowing, communication, voice or dysphagia
- Has experience working with people with PSP, Parkinsonism, neurological disorders or other neurodegenerative conditions
- Can translate complex clinical information into clear, practical advice for patients and caregivers
- Is comfortable discussing both clinical considerations and real-world challenges faced at home
- Takes a patient- and caregiver-centred approach
- Is comfortable participating in an informal fireside chat/Q&A format
- Is willing to volunteer their time to support the PSP community
Experience with home-based care, assistive communication technology, dysphagia management or caregiver education would be particularly valuable.
Format & Commitment
- Role: Volunteer Conference Speaker / Fireside Chat Expert
- Session: Addressing Changes in Speech, Communication, Feeding & Swallowing
- Format: Moderated fireside chat followed by audience questions
- Audience: People living with PSP, family members, caregivers and healthcare professionals
- Preparation: Brief planning call with the conference team/moderator in advance of the conference
- Compensation: Volunteer / unpaid role
