Opportunities Available for S-LPs
- Acute Care communication and swallowing within inpatients/outpatients. Areas covered are ICU, general surgical, neurosurgical, medical, rehab stroke unit, trauma, and psychiatry. S-LPs collaborate with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to add to the patient’s care, and they offer in-services to nursing staff and rehab colleagues. Interior Health’s hospitals offer mentorship to obtain advanced competencies and opportunities for stretch projects or assignments.
- Early Childhood Development (ECD) is a regional program where S-LPs work with children aged birth to school entry and their caregivers, with the goal of improving speech, language, and communication abilities. The ECD S-LP team has strong connections across Interior Health with many opportunities for mentorship and training.
