Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 35 clinical sites, located in 25 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services, develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs. Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

We are accepting applications for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) position of Speech-Language Pathologist. The home base site is Bridgewater – Medical Arts Building. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager. Schedule to be determined.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Nova Scotia College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in spoken and written English. If English is not first language further documents will be required.
- Experience with provision of pediatric speech and language assessment and treatment
- Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for pediatric caseloads
- Knowledge of discipline specific best practices in assessment and early intervention of young children with developmental disabilities, specifically those with autism
- Experience with provision of assessment and treatment of communication and dysphagia for adult clients in outpatient settings
- Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for adult caseloads
- Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care
- Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services
- Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel is required
- Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings
- Maintain Hanen membership as appropriate to caseload
- Candidate will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date
- Candidates will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period Assets:
- Experience with off-site/home-based service delivery model
- Experience working with transdisciplinary clinical teams and working with supportive personnel (e.g., Communication Disorders Technicians)
- Experience with a variety of intervention approaches for general pediatric population as well as those specific to autism
- Experience with provision of services via telepractice
- Experience providing caregiver training
- Experience in provision of alternative and augmentative communication programs
- Ability to provide bilingual clinical services
- Training and knowledge of Pivotal Response Treatment and Picture Exchange Communication System
