Job Information

Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Speech Language Pathology at Stanton Territorial Hospital, you will be one (1) of six (6) Speech Language Pathologists who independently manages their own caseload and provides diagnostic, treatment, preventative or educational counseling and referral services to in and out-patients ranging from preschool to seniors.

The Speech Language Pathology Department has approximately 5,000 encounters a year (approximately 6 encounters per Therapist per day), receiving referrals from a variety of health professionals as well as directly from schools with parental consent. As the Speech Language Pathologist, you will perform clinical and standardized assessments and may provide ongoing intervention, as well as monitor the delivery of treatment. You will provide educational resources (I.e. programs, material, workshops) to the Western Arctic and Nunavut in school and healthcare settings.

Rather than specializing in one area, you as the Speech Language Pathologist at Stanton Territorial Hospital will work as a generalist. This includes patients of all ages who have speech, language, voice, pragmatic, and/or fluency delays or disorders which may be secondary to loss of hearing, congenital or developmental delays, physical illness or the aging process. Types of care delivered may include but not be limited to; improving articulation and/or language skills, increasing fluency, supporting patients using augmentative communication.

 

Qualifications

  • The successful completion of a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology.

Registrations

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $47.68 per hour to $56.96 per hour (approximately $92,976 - $111,072) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
