Salary: $36.61/hr – $40.67/hr ($66,630 - $74,019)

35 hours/week, 10 months + 10 days Annually

The purpose of The Speech & Language Pathologist is to provide speech and language assessments and treatments. This position reports to the Vice-Principal, Special Education Services.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides intake and deployment referrals for Speech and Language Pathology services and Communicative Disorder Assistant services and liaises with community agency staff

  • Assesses students’ communication development administering standardized tests, gathering data, conducting interviews, and observing, and prepares reports following assessments interpreting information gathered

  • Provides consultation to teachers, parents/guardians, and co-workers on communication needs; prepares intervention materials and activities

  • Prepares Board reports, prepares and maintains annual statistics of caseloads, and participates in school completion of Ministry of Education October Reports, upon request

  • Prepares ISA claim reports

  • Prepares and presents professional presentations on specific topics related to Speech and Language Pathology

  • Provides recommendations for the purchase of materials/resources

  • Participates on Ministry of Education and professional committees

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Principal, Special Education Services and as required for college certification



  • May plan, assign, monitor and support the work of interns and practicum students.

  • Masters degree or equivalent required in Speech Language Pathology;

  • 1 to 3 years experience

  • Must be a registered member of CASLPO;

  • Must maintain professional development as per College requirements;

  • Valid drivers license and use of own vehicle;

  • Experience with school-aged populations an asset

  • Experience working in a team environment and supervising supportive personnel


Effort and Working Conditions:

  • School and office environment; moderate pressure to meet deadlines; some dealing with difficult people; moderate lifting materials under and over 5 Kg; moderate travel

  • Moderate attention to detail, concentration and observation; some visual exertion and keyboarding
