$34.26 - $42.73 per hour

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), located in Kamloops, BC, is an Acute Care facility that includes tertiary and outpatient rehabilitation services. RIH offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic services. The Speech-Language Pathology Department provides services to the acute care units, the stroke unit, tertiary rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation and supports rural sites.

We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for a permanent, full time position to provide assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders. In this role the SpeechLanguage Pathologist is an autonomous professional who has expertise in typical development and disorders of communication as well as assessment and intervention in these areas. The Speech-Language Pathologist will work directly with clients, family and other professionals to create environments that promote optimal communication. The role offers collaboration with a small team of Speech-Language Pathologists including a Professional Practice Leader SpeechLanguage Pathologist who oversees the team. 

Days of work are Monday to Friday with weekends and statutory holidays off. Current caseload includes acute care coverage and outreach services to the Cariboo area. Outreach services are one day/week providing a combination of virtual care and some travel. Access to a personal vehicle may be required. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage for basic Medical Services, Dental Services, and Extended Health. 

Experience with modified barium swallow studies (MBSs) and fiberoptic evaluation of the swallowing (FEES) is an asset. RIH is in the process of establishing a FEES service.


Qualifications Required:

  • Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC.
  • One year’s clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid Drivers License.
