Appeals and Re-writing

Re-Writing the Exam  As March 2020 will be the last SAC exam, re-writing the SAC exam is not applicable.

  • Qualified individuals can take the SAC Clinical Certification Exam up to three times in total.
  • Requests for an exemption to this policy for one additional rewrite may be made to the Standards and Ethics Committee with a written plan to improve Clinical Certification Exam performance.

Appeals

  • Candidates can request an appeal of their exam failure due to special circumstances.
  • To request an exam failure appeal, candidates must:
    • Print, complete and submit the Request for Exam Failure Appeal;
    • ensure SAC receives the request within 30 business days of the mailing of exam results;
    • submit a complete description of the basis of the appeal;
    • submit supporting documentation, if applicable;
    • submit the $200 administrative fee payable (to SAC) by cheque, Visa or Mastercard.
  • SAC will send an email to acknowledge receipt of the application.
  • Appeals will be reviewed according to SAC’s Appeal of the Clinical Certification Exam Failure policy statement and procedures. The decision of the appeal committee shall be final.
  • Please refer any exam appeal questions to the Certification Department at:
  • Submit your appeals addressed to the Chief Executive Officer:

Re-Score

  • Occasionally, candidates request to have their exam re-scored. Please be advised that every exam with a score below or at the passing score is re-scored carefully by hand BEFORE results are released. The possibility of a change in score resulting from an additional re-scoring is therefore quite small.
  • To request an exam re-score, candidates must:
    • submit the Request for Re-Score Application;
    • ensure SAC receives the request within 30 business days of the mailing of exam results;
    • submit the $100 administrative fee payable (to SAC) by cheque, Visa or Mastercard.
